It is not often that a new product is introduced with such innovation to change the entire dynamic of an industry. When we set off on this journey a few years ago, it all started with an idea that we could make a better projectile. We were just a collection of engineers, machinists, and avid shooters. The end result was the A.S.A.T.™ or AeroSpike Ammunition Technology. A radically new projectile design that pushes the boundaries of conventional bullets and ammunition.
At its core, the A.S.A.T.™ concept allows us to lengthen the bullet during flight, which improves aerodynamics, increasing BC while still maintaining COAL specifications. By being able to control and increase the overall length of a projectile after firing, our technology allows us to manipulate flight characteristics by reducing aerodynamic drag at supersonic and subsonic speeds. The AeroSpike creates a detached shock wave ahead of the body allowing the projectile body to be more streamlined, even with non-typical projectile profiles.
Our R&D round the ASAT-20 takes a more conventional 160 gr. 308WIN bullet from 1.370" to 1.560". This allows for a 11% reduction of drag with a 20% increase in overall length (compared to Sierra MatchKing HPBT 168gr.). The bullet doesn't have an aggressive ogive shape, which should allow it to perform well in a wide range of rifles. Additionally, there are some terminal ballistic advantages
with rapid expansion on soft tissue without over penetration.
All of our A.S.A.T.™ projectiles are precision CNC machined out of solid copper in our own machine shop. Each round has been QC checked for consistency, weight, and tolerances. We strive to maintain consistent manufacturing precision through continuous upgrade of our equipment and inspection tools, as well as our own technical talent and expertise.
The A.S.A.T.™ concept can be developed in any caliber and type of ammunition from personal defense hand gun rounds to long range precision shooters, from avid hunters to military specific sniper rounds. It is compatible with all types of firearms and can be modified to fit many specific applications. From the controlled ballistics and flight to the devastating impact, the AeroSpike Ammunition Technology is designed for the future of shooting.
We are currently still in R&D, however, we have moved into the final testing phase of development, including drag, trajectory, and ballistics data. Please check back weekly for updates as we hope to soon launch our online store with several calibers/weights of projectiles featuring our A.S.A.T.™ technology.
